WLF Advance developed as a branch of the award-winning movie production company White Lantern Film as part of the company’s mission to help young creative talent make a start in the film industry. In 2020 the UK Government launched a new job creation scheme to encourage young people into work and approved WLF Advance as a Kickstart Scheme Gateway Organisation.
The Kickstart Scheme creates jobs for young people by providing employers with a salary subsidy to cover the minimum wage for 25 hours per week on a 6-month contract. Kickstart was designed to combat the detrimental effects of COVID-19 on businesses and the job-market by facilitating a mutually beneficial relationship between young people looking to break into professional industries and companies requiring help from talented and skilled individuals.
As a Gateway Organisation, WLF Advance was able to work with employers throughout the UK to provide access to the scheme and has currently submitted applications for 22 businesses creating 74 new opportunities. The scheme has proved tremendously productive for all the business partners and young people involved helping everyone recover from the effects of the pandemic.
WLF Advance manages the entire application process to Kickstart for UK companies in any sector, completely free of charge. Any employers who are interested can head to www.wlfadvance.co.uk/kickstart for more information.
